FAQ

When you encrypt a page, any page you link to should also be encrypted, shouldn't it?

Some people expect encrypted pages to work like this, and are not aware that 'offshoot' pages remain in plain text. Result? They think their data is encrypted but it is not. This is very bad!

Note Studio does not automatically encrypt other pages, just because an encrypted page links to them. There would be many problems with doing that.

Example:

Imagine I have a plain text book, with two encrypted pages:

Then I make a new page, C, and link to it from A. C is automatically encrypted with password 'a'.

Then I link to C from page B. Now C should be encrypted with password 'b', but it is already encrypted with 'a'.

We recommend Encrypted Books (as opposed to Encrypted Pages) when you want automatic page encryption.
