Rules - Traditional Mahjong Solitaire

The aim of Traditional Mahjong Solitaire is really simple: remove all the tiles.

Tiles are removed in pairs. Play continues until all tiles are removed from play, or until no more moves are possible.

It's not quite that easy though... there are three rules for tile selection.

Rule 1. Tile must be able to be moved to the left or right.

So, in the following example:

Therefore, the yellow star and the green circle can be selected. The green and blue starts cannot be selected.

Rule 2. All of a tile must be able to slide for it to be selectable.

So, in the following example:

the aqua star and the red triangle cannot be selected. The Blue triangle and Orange triangle can be selected.

Rule 3. Tile can't be selected if it has a tile stacked on top of it.

So, in the following example:

The two blue circles match, but they cannot be removed, since the blue circle on the left has a tile partially on top of it (the red circle).
